How it works

How to watermark PDFs and images in bulk

Watermarking a whole batch takes four steps and usually less than two minutes.

  1. 1

    Add your files

Drag and drop PDFs, JPG, PNG or WebP images, Word documents, a folder or a ZIP archive onto the upload area, or click to browse.

  2. 2

    Design the watermark

Type your text or upload a logo, then adjust font, color, size, opacity, rotation, position and tiling while the live preview updates.

  3. 3

    Apply to every file

Click "Apply" and BigWatermark stamps the same watermark on every page of every PDF and on every image in the batch.

  4. 4

    Download the results

Download each watermarked file on its own or save the whole batch as one ZIP archive with a file name of your choice.

Features

Everything you need to watermark at scale

Bulk & ZIP processing

Add hundreds of files, whole folders or ZIP archives. Every supported file is extracted, watermarked and can be downloaded again as one ZIP.

Private by design

PDFs and images are processed locally by your browser and never uploaded. Only Word files are converted on our server, then deleted.

Full-resolution images

JPG, PNG and WebP photos keep their original pixel size and format. Watermarks scale with each image so mixed batches look consistent.

Real PDF watermarks

The watermark is written into each page, so it shows in every PDF reader and prints. Text, forms and scans in the original are preserved.

Flexible placement

Pick one of nine positions, set exact X/Y coordinates, rotate from −180° to 180°, or tile the mark across the page in a grid or brick pattern.

Page targeting

Stamp every page, only the first or last page, odd or even pages, or a custom list of pages and ranges in each PDF.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is BigWatermark?

BigWatermark is a free online tool that adds a text or logo watermark to many PDFs and images at once. You can drop in individual files, a whole folder or a ZIP archive, preview the watermark live, and download every watermarked file individually or together as one ZIP.

Is BigWatermark really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no subscription and no paid tier. BigWatermark never adds its own logo or branding to your files. The site is supported by advertising on content pages, never inside your files.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No for PDFs and images: they are read, watermarked and saved entirely inside your browser and never sent to us. Word documents (.docx/.doc) are the only exception: they are sent over an encrypted connection to our conversion server, turned into a PDF and deleted immediately. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Which file types can I watermark?

You can watermark PDF files, JPG/JPEG, PNG and WebP images, and Word documents (.docx and .doc, which are converted to PDF first). You can also upload a ZIP archive that contains any mix of these files.

How many files can I watermark at once?

There is no fixed limit on how many files you add. Files are processed one after another to keep memory use low, so the practical limit depends on your device. Most laptops comfortably handle hundreds of typical PDFs or photos in a single batch.

Does watermarking reduce the quality of my images?

No resizing happens: every image keeps its original pixel dimensions and format. PNG files are saved losslessly, while JPG and WebP files are re-encoded at high quality (about 92%), which is visually indistinguishable from the original for most photos.
